In 2024, Winnipeg marks 150 years as a city. It is an opportunity for us to reflect on our past, and look ahead to our future. We officially mark this milestone on January 19, 2024 – the anniversary of the first meeting of City Council.

Message from the Mayor

This year, Winnipeg celebrates 150 years as a city.

The theme for our Winnipeg 150 celebrations, Our shared stories. Our shared future., captures the essence of Winnipeg. In every corner of our diverse community, there are stories waiting to be told – stories of resilience, stories of relentless hope, and stories that tell the colourful tales behind our city's history.

Winnipeg is also a city whose story is still being written. And in celebrating our past, we are laying the foundation for our shared future. Together, we can build a stronger Winnipeg and a future we can all be proud of. A future where we continue to embrace our differences, learn from our history, and work towards a better, more inclusive tomorrow.

I want to extend an invitation to all Winnipeggers to join me: Let's come together to celebrate, connect, and build lasting memories. We only get one opportunity to celebrate Winnipeg 150 and I’m looking forward to a year of celebrations to recognize this important milestone.
