The Winnipeg Police Service’s Organized Crime Division became involved in an investigation regarding individuals in possession of firearms and large quantities of explosive substances. Investigators became aware of an explosion that had previously occurred in Headingley, Manitoba. Investigators learned that the same individuals involved in this previous explosion were potentially conspiring to detonate another.

The investigation led officers from multiple law enforcement agencies, including RCMP, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA)  and the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST), to two locations in West Winnipeg and Headingley, Manitoba.

On May 2, 2024, multiple warrants were executed, and two individuals were arrested: Evan LUKE REIMER, 24 years old, and a 23-year-old male. After searching these locations, numerous firearms, ammunition, and large quantities of explosive substances were seized.

REIMER has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Firearm x 3
  • Unlawful Possession of Explosives
  • Theft Under $5000

The 23-year-old is facing firearm-related offences and has been released on an Undertaking.

The investigation is in its early stages, and interviews are ongoing. Public safety is our highest priority, and our goal today is to share some initial information, including reassurance, to all members of the public.

Additional information will be provided at a later time as the investigation progresses.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Winnipeg Police Service at (204) 986-7003 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS or winnipegcrimestoppers.org
